Andi Alfian

About

Andi Alfian is a researcher and community development practitioner. He graduated from the Center for Religious and Cross-cultural Studies (CRCS), Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Indonesia, with an M.A. in Religious Studies. He is also the founder and director of Sekolah Anak Muda (@sekolahanakmuda), a non-profit movement based in Makassar, Indonesia, that organizes public discussions on social, educational, and environmental issues related to youth and indigenous people.

Currently, he is researching indigenous philosophies related to ecological solidarity in some indigenous communities in Sulawesi. His main research interests are indigenous philosophies, environmental ethics, indigenous community developments, and the intersection between religion, gender, and environment. One of his achievements was winning the Indonesia-Netherlands Thesis Prize 2023.

Within the INSPIRASI program, his goals are to delve into the dynamic of indigenous religions in New Zealand and to explore the impact of civil society organizations in empowering youth towards advocating for the citizenship of indigenous people.
