Sabina Iriani Baranggon

About

Sabina, a dedicated individual, works in community development for indigenous people in Papua. As a liaison officer and facilitator at the Foundation of Nusantara Sejati, she spearheads the flagship program in collaboration with British Petroleum in Bintuni Bay. The organization's primary objective is to promote and achieve the eight standards of national education through the "Sekolah Model in Bintuni Bay." While there has been some progress in their efforts, the most notable achievement is the decline in illiteracy rates within their schools, which has steadily decreased from 2021 to 2023. Concurrently, the organization initiated distance learning during the COVID-19 pandemic, thereby fostering a culture of literacy in rural areas.

Sabina's educational journey has been marked by notable accomplishments, including securing the 2nd position in the Math Olympiad, a collaboration between the Papua Government and PT. Freeport Indonesia in 2010. She also earned a scholarship from the Papua Government to study at the Yohanes Surya Institute and subsequently pursued her bachelor's degree at Brawijaya University from 2011 to 2016, culminating in her graduation in 2016.

Hailing from Merauke, Sabina possesses a passion for exploration and enjoys discovering new landscapes and coastal areas. She considers herself a social butterfly, thriving on interactions with individuals from diverse cities, countries, and professions, leveraging these connections to expand her knowledge and skills to better serve the people of Papua. Ultimately, her overarching goal is to continue her involvement in the field of education to combat illiteracy in Bintuni, Merauke, and other cities across Papua.
