About
Wilda Yanti Salam is a cultural programmer, writer, and researcher. Currently, she navigates her encounters by exploring ways to connect and learn with youth, grassroots, and marginalized communities through multidisciplinary approaches.
In 2019, she initiated “Memodapur”, a food study group to learn and archive everyday life using food and the kitchen as entry points. In 2021, she created “Di Luar Jam Sekolah”, a learning platform for youth to learn inclusivity and diversity through arts and culture by conducting residencies in arts and cultural communities in Makassar. Her work has been published in several books “Kisah Kasih Dari Dapur” (Tales from the Kitchen) in 2024, “Setoples Ramuan Pengewaten” (A Jar of Pickles on Food) and Pedagogical Initiatives in 2022, as well as in anthologies such as “Riwayat Gunung dan Silsilah Laut” (Mountain History and Sea Genealogy) 2022, “Ramuan di Segitiga Wallacea” (Herbs in the Wallacea Triangle) 2020, and “Kota Diperam Dalam Lontang” (City Soaked in Drinking Stall) 2018.
Wilda believes that through a literacy approach, that is the practice of reading and writing, we can learn and unlearn historical and cultural knowledge that has been rooted in the body of minds of ordinary people to be knowledgeably empowered.
