About
Didi is a passionate advocate for disability inclusion from Makassar, South Sulawesi. Though her roots span Kendari and Gorontalo, she proudly identifies with Gorontalo culture, cherishing traditions like the Modutu dance and beloved dishes like binte biluhuta, a spiced corn soup that brings comfort and connection at family gatherings.
With a background in economics, Didi now focuses on community development, where her journey took a defining turn during her time as a sign language interpreter and later as a frontliner at the 2018 Asian Para Games. It was there she realized that "disability" often stems more from environmental barriers than from physical limitations—a revelation that sparked her mission to build a more accessible and inclusive Makassar.
Didi joined the Indonesia Young Leaders Programme to strengthen her leadership skills, sharpen her advocacy, and learn sustainable, community-centered strategies that empower persons with disabilities. She is especially keen to learn how Aotearoa New Zealand promotes inclusive leadership and supports marginalized communities through policy, Maori values, and collaborative governance. Her professional goals align with the vision of her organization, AksesHUB, where she seeks to design programs that address the real needs of the disability community and influence systems to be more inclusive.
In her downtime, Didi finds joy in music, often creating themed playlists to match her moods and tasks. She also loves baking, especially cookies and cheesecakes, and often explores new recipes online. Through this programme, she hopes not only to expand her global perspective but also to serve as a bridge between government and communities—ensuring that disability voices are heard, respected, and centered in future development.
