Yakob facilitating the training

Kupang, 21–23 August 2025 – As part of his Action Project, Yakob Osingmahi, an INSPIRASI 2024 alum, together with his team, facilitated a three-day training for teachers at SD Inpres Lasiana, Kupang. This initiative builds on Yakob’s earlier work in identifying the challenges educators face when teaching children with diverse needs, including those with disabilities, in the classroom.

The training was designed to deepen teachers’ understanding of inclusive education, equip them with responsive teaching strategies, and introduce meaningful learning approaches through the integration of deep learning concepts.

Over the three days, participants were not only introduced to theory but also engaged in discussions, reflections, and hands-on practice. These activities helped teachers connect new knowledge with their daily classroom experiences, making the training interactive and relevant to their needs.

The program also fostered collaboration among teachers, emphasizing that inclusive education cannot be carried out individually but requires teamwork and collective commitment. As a result, teachers demonstrated improved understanding of how to identify the diverse needs of students and how to develop creative, adaptive, and inclusive teaching strategies.

At the end of the training, participants developed follow-up action plans, which included shifting their perspective by adopting the term disability instead of “cacat,” sharing the knowledge gained with colleagues to promote inclusive teaching practices, and creating in-depth lesson plans (Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran) specifically tailored for inclusive schools.

Through this project, Yakob and his team are taking meaningful steps toward building more inclusive education in Kupang and across East Nusa Tenggara.
